Post 251: I'll be coming around the mountain to Cambridge, Idaho!

Tuesday, November 30, 2010

I'll be coming around the mountain ... to Cambridge, Idaho.

I like today's street view. I am going around the bend, literally!

Who was the highway genius who put a passing dotted stripe down the middle of the highway going around a curve???

I will just keep on the shoulder to stay out of the way of any dueling cars.

Heh heh.

Post 250: Just 15 miles to Cambridge, Idaho!

Monday, November 29, 2010

On my way to Hell's Canyon, Idaho-Oregon border, I must past through Cambridge, Idaho.

It's just 15 miles ahead.

Why, I'll be there in three days at this pace.

Oh, here's today's street view.

Looks kind of gloomy and drear, I think.

And sort of lonely, too.

Dark.

Mysterious, even!

Post 249: Less than 20 miles from Cambridge, IDAHO!

Sunday, November 28, 2010

At end of day I am now less than 20 miles from the next town, Cambridge, Idaho, on my virtual walk across America.

I see another tractor trailer in the left lane approaching as I head in the opposite direction, westward toward the Idaho-Oregon border.

Looks like I am walking up a slope and there is a small mound in the distance.

What's that shape on the right hand side of the mound?

It looks like it might be a silo or other large building.

What's your guess?

Nice road, good condition, and there's a pull off area to my right.

Do you think people use it to turn around?

I dunno.

I'll just keep on trekking.

Well, to satisfy your boundless curiosity, here's a map showing where I am today.

The black line is where I have been.

The blue line shows the path ahead.

Post 247: Behind a Pickup Truck in Council, Adams County, Idaho!

Saturday, November 27, 2010

As you can see from the street view today, I am behind a green Chevrolet pickup truck in long-awaited Council, Idaho.

There's even a guy walking the sidewalk to the right.

The sidewalk, as you can see, at its base, is crumbling badly.

Look up and you can see the DRUGS sign above the buildings on the right.

Another truck with large tires is approaching on the left.

This is as much "civilization" as I have seen in all my walk through Idaho.

Bright Lights.

Big City.

Downtown.

The lights are much brighter there.

You can forget all your troubles ...

... forget all your cares ... when you're ...

... downtown!

Heh heh

Darryl

P.S. Next stop, Cambridge, Idaho, sounds very educational. "Hey, Ma! I've been to Cambridge!"

Post 246: Less than 3 miles to Council, Adams County, Idaho!

Friday, November 26, 2010

I am now less than 3 miles from Council, ID, on my virtual cross country walk.

Here's today's street view:

Interesting to see the rolls of hay to the right and the road isn't as flat, either, appears to have a bit of rise and fall to it.

Post 244: Uphill to Council, Idaho!

Wednesday, November 24, 2010

I'm on the upward trail to Council, Idaho. Looks like I've gotten behind some trucks hauling tankers up a mountainside, sure hope their brakes last, or I'm a goner!

Post 243: Creeping Closer to Council, Adams County, Idaho!

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

I didn't walk very far today, but I am a bit closer to Council, Adams County, Idaho.

The street view is much the same, tall pines on either side of the road, open road, but today, as you can see, there is some traffic ahead.

Good night, all.

Post 242: Still Closing In on Council, Idaho!

Monday, November 22, 2010

Now I'm just 13.1 miles from Council, Idaho.

Here's today's street view photo.

Beautiful scenery!

Could those hills to my right be the source of a rock slide?

Maybe I'll walk a bit faster and get in that left lane, facing traffic, of which there looks to be none.

Now, that's better!
