Thanks for your patience – we’re pleased to announce that we’ve released an update to our WW Mobile app. Not only has the Weight Tracker bug on iPad been fixed (we know: phew!), but we’ve also added some great new functionality we think you’ll love. You can now scan a barcode without using a separate app (it’s built in!). And for a nice change of scenery, we redesigned our Home and Tracker screens. Search also got much easier with Favorites, Recently Added, and Items I Created built right into the search suggestions. Want to see more of the changes? Download the update to check them out – then come right back here and tell us what you think in the Comments field below. We love hearing from you!
Do you have a great idea or piece of feedback, comment below! We love to hear from you!

We’re pretty excited by the news published in The American Journal of Medicine, which found that a community-based weight loss intervention – specifically Weight Watchers – is more effective than a self-help approach (think apps or other DIY options).
But of course, if you’re reading this we bet you knew that already.
A study by Baylor College of Medicine has found that people who opt for community-driven group-slimming are eight-times more successful than those who attempt going it alone. The study notes that this is particularly true of those who’ve selected Weight Watchers.
In fact, study participants who combined With Weight Watchers meetings and eTools, which includes access to the mobile Apps lost the most weight of anyone in the study—19 pounds on average! Here’s how the study worked: Researchers observed groups of obese / overweight adults over a period of six months. In that period, participants who went the DYI-route lost 1.3 pounds on average, while those taking the Weight Watchers approach averaged 10.1. People in the Weight Watchers group were given the option of following the plan in meetings, online or exclusively via mobile app – or any combination thereof. They all yielded superior results.
The takeaway: People who followed the Weight Watchers plan were eight (8!) times more likely to lose at least 5% of their initial body weight, the percentage loss that is associated with improved health markers such as cardiovascular risk factors and blood sugar levels.
As if this weren’t exciting enough, the Affordable Care Act of 2012 states that primary care physicians should recommend multi-component behavioral intervention to patients suffering from obesity. This is exactly the kind of method that Weight Watchers offers, and the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) specifically highlights this as the most cost-effective course.

In an attempt to improve your member experience, we made an upgrade to our database yesterday. In a nutshell, it didn’t go so well. The good news is that we’re back on track. The less-than-great news is that all of the data you entered online yesterday was lost. This includes the foods you tracked, anything you made a Favorite, any recipes you created and the weight you entered. There’s no way to sugar coat it -- yesterday's info is gone.
You may also see some funky things happening on your mobile device. If so, we recommend you uninstall and then reinstall your mobile app. If you need assistance, call customer service at 1-800-651-6000.
Thanks for bearing with us and remembering that we’re only human too.

Isn’t iOS7 shiny and lovely! We agree, though we also realize that it’s creating a few blips on our mobile app. They’re mostly cosmetic, and we’re fixing them while we work on our next big app update. So, on it!
Most importantly, the tools should mostly work properly. You can prevent further issues by force-closing your app (pro-tip: You might want to do this for all of your apps – not just Weight Watchers Mobile!) after a major operating system upgrade. You can do that by double-clicking the Home button, pressing the screenshot of the app and flicking it upward.
Here are the known issues:
You might also experience problems other than those listed above. Again, these are definitely short-term issues; our next update will fully support the new Apple operating system in all its glory, so stay tuned!
- You may experience crashing on the iPad Weight Tracker (it will crash it you tap any of the Weight Tracker reminders too). If you do, just track your weight via the Mobile Website or our iPhone/Android apps.
- While taking a Snap & Track photo, the camera tool might look a little cut off, but it still works (on the iPad, make sure to use the camera in portrait mode)
- General color contrast issues (some messages may be difficult to read, including the one that appears when it’s updating your Tracker)
- Some images and characters might slightly overlap (e.g. the “Edit goal weight” pencil is out of place)
We apologize for the inconvenience.

UPDATE: On 10/09/13 we released an update to WW Mobile Android that resolved this issue.
We hope you're enjoying all the latest updates to the Weight Watchers Tracker App (Did you notice that we put the Barcode Scanner right on your homepage?). We're just letting you know that the latest release does have a known bug and that we're currently working on it. This bug involves the letters "NA" replacing the words in the lists of your Quick Add and Recently Added Quick Add foods. While the PointsPlus value for each item is displaying correctly, there's no way for you to tell which food is being referred to.
We'll continue to keep you updated on the status of this bug. If you have any additional feedback or comments, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.

It’s true! You no longer have to open up the Plan Manager to track your food and activity. You can track ‘em right from the homepage! Take a look at the tracking bucket on your subscriber homepage. See the big green button that says “Track everyday items”? Click it to get started.
Once you click “Track everyday items”, searching for foods has never been so easy! We’ve included your Favorites, Recently Added and 2,000 of our members’ most-tracked foods right at your fingertips. You can also Quick Add your food Points Plus values from the homepage.
You’ll see your PointsPlus budget update instantly on the homepage right after you track, plus the Daily Tokens will drop down if you’ve earned one. No more refresh required!
And that’s not all: Every time you track from the homepage, you’ll get a confirmation of what you just tracked and a message high-fiving you for sticking to the plan. You go, track star!
We hope this is one more way to make following Weight Watchers easier than ever. Try out the new tool, and let us know what you think. Your feedback is always welcome!
