Attention Android Users, we have some updates for you!

Friday, August 17, 2012

While we are continuing to make fixes to your food database, we have some exciting new features that you should check out immediately on your Weight Watchers Mobile App.

What to expect when you log in?

A slick new look! We redesigned the app just for you, so you can easily access all the great features that help you stay on plan. Check out the search bar located right in the menu, scroll down to access our great content, or refresh your tracker by pulling the screen down quickly. You even have a direct link to the Weight Watchers Barcode Scanner App, which will make it even easier to scan and track.

We’ve heard in your previous feedback that it’s been hard to find foods and activities while searching on the Android, so we also improved the search experience. Your results will automatically be categorized by food, activity, restaurant foods, and branded food, so you no longer have to go looking for your results.

Once again, as many of you know, we have a team of engineers who are making weekly improvements and working out the kinks in our food database. This week we are adding 329 new foods, fixing the PointsPlus values of 388 foods, and are reducing the amount of duplicates that you are finding. Rest assured, all the updates that are made to the website will be made to the app as well.

Please keep in mind that this is a new app. So some users may need to uninstall the old version first for the best experience.

Lastly, if you are an iPhone or iPad user, we didn’t forget about you! You’re updates are just around the corner.

Continuing to keep you in the loop!

Tuesday, August 07, 2012

As stated in our previous post, we have our best folks working hard to improve your food tracking experience. We appreciate your feedback and thank you for your patience. Please remember you can email us at ReportAFood@WeightWatchers.com if you still see something that is incorrect.

Check out what happened last week:

1.We fixed a data error in the food entry for chicken thighs, so the PointsPlus values for chicken thighs are now correct.

2.We updated how search works and plan to continue to do this weekly, so expect your searches to only improve over time.

3.We’ve added back some of those missing Weight Watches products. Examples of your favorites include:

  • -Toffee peanut perfection
  • -Weight Watchers citrus drops
  • -Weight Watchers by Whitman’s English toffee squares
  • -Weight Watchers oatmeal
  • -Weight Watchers iced lemon cookies

4. We fixed many of the duplicate entries you were seeing when you searched for foods.

5. We fixed some general problems with Plan Manager that may have been causing it to freeze or close. (New as of Wed. Aug. 8, 2012 3:00pm)

We know there is more to do – including fixing issues people have with the mobile app, which we have a team hard at work on - and we encourage you to keep writing us about duplicate food entries, incorrect PointsPlus values, etc. Please keep checking back here for details on the updates we’re making weekly.

Thanks again for your help and patience.

As promised, here are our next steps!

Wednesday, August 01, 2012

As all of our followers know, we transitioned to a new database recently, adding over 100,000 items. Yep, 100,000 items! Unfortunately, not everything went as planned and we encountered issues that we’ve been working our tails off to get fixed. We know how important this is to you, and we never want to let you down.

Since the new database was made available, we've had a team of our very best people meeting daily to fix issues. They are working incredibly hard on troubleshooting problems and then solving them. In order to understand what the problems are, we've been diligently reading every single blog comment, Facebook post, Tweet, and email from you. Please know you have a voice and it has been heard! And we are not stopping there. The team is scouring our message boards for feedback and taking diligent notes on calls you’ve placed. In addition, we continue to rigorously conduct internal testing so we can uncover issues and fix them quickly.

Here are the steps we have taken and will take to fix the issues you fellow Weight Watchers members and subscribers are experiencing:

1. Last Friday we made several fixes. These include:
  • a) Added back some basic foods that went missing in the transition. You should seesome of your Favorites return to your Tracker.
  • b) Added approximately 12,000 frequently tracked foods, including many sold at Weight Watchers locations, as well as licensed foods. This should improve the experience when you search for a food.
  • c) Updated restaurant foods to reflect the most accurate information we have received
  • d) For more details about this fix, please go here:

2. We will continue to make weekly updates for the next several weeks (yep, every Friday for that matter) to a) add missing items back into the database and b) improve the quality of the search experience, such as removing duplicate entries.

3. We are also bringing in a search expert to help us make additional improvements to your search experience, so you can more easily find the exact food you’re looking to add right to your tracker.

If you continue to notice anything fishy, we encourage you to comment below or email us at ReportAFood@weightwatchers.com. And remember, no issue is too small or too large! However, we ask that you please be specific in your post (ex: a brand-name item is missing, the portion size is incorrect, or you just can’t find a specific food), and give us as much detail as possible. We want to be able to identify the source of the problem and start working on a fix.

Thanks for your patience. You guys are awesome!

I just got a message saying I my favorites are full and to please delete some things in order to add. Is this the norm of just a bug in the app?
