Here are a few of the best no-guilt salad dressings out there... and, um, some of the worst!
Newman's Own Lighten Up! Dressings
This whole line of dressings is great. Some are lighter than others, so check the labels, but all of the vinaigrettes are so much less oily than their full-fat counterparts. I especially love the Low Fat Sesame Ginger, not only for its low stats (35 calories! 1.5g fat!), but also for its incredible taste.
One 2-tbsp. serving has 35 - 70 calories, 1.5 - 6g fat, 0g fiber, and a POINTS® value of 1 - 2.
Newman's Own Natural Salad Mist and Wish-Bone Salad Spritzers
Here's an example of modern technology hard at work. These spray dressings aren't marked as "light" or "low-fat," but the extremely portion-controlled sprays of flavor are a great way to avoid adding hundreds of unwanted calories to your salads. I love these... especially Wish-Bone's Caesar Delight!
One 10-spray serving has 10 - 15 calories, 0.5 - 1g fat, 0g fiber, and a POINTS value of 0.
Wish-Bone Fat Free Red Wine Vinaigrette Dressing
If you're looking for something to dress your fruit-topped greens with, look no further. This stuff is a delicious addition to slightly sweet salads, plus it's totally fat-free. I like that in a vinaigrette. Wish-Bone, I wish you'd make more awesome zero-fat dressings!
One 2-tbsp. serving has 30 calories, 0g fat, 0g fiber, and a POINTS value of 1.
Kraft Light Asian Toasted Sesame Dressing
This has become a huge hit over at the HG HQ. You know an Asian dressing has to be pretty good to lure us away from our beloved Newman's Own Low Fat Sesame Ginger, and this one just might be doing that. This stuff is sooo thick and flavorful, you'd never guess it's light. Nicely done, Kraft!
One 2-tbsp. serving has 60 calories, 3g fat, 0g fiber, and a POINTS value of 1.
Ken's Buttermilk Ranch Dressing
This stuff just screams "old school." And not in a fun, retro way either. In a "would you like extra gravy on your chicken-fried steak?" kinda way. No thank you!
One 2-tbsp. serving has 180 calories, 20g fat, 0g fiber, and a POINTS value of 5.
Marzetti Ultimate Gorgonzola Dressing
Chances are, you're in trouble the second you reach for a jar of salad dressing. And the name "Ultimate Gorgonzola" sounds less like a dressing and more like a creature that crushes large buildings with a single footstep. Either way, I'm scared.
One 2-tbsp. serving has 150 calories, 16g fat, 0g fiber, and a POINTS value of 4.
Chili's Citrus Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing
Chili's, can we talk? Sure, I expect numbers like this from ranch, Caesar and blue cheese dressings, but why is this super-innocent-sounding dressing so high in fat and calories?? Avoid this one at all costs, people. You can do so much better, and you probably won't be able to taste the difference. Bad fatty vinaigrette! Very bad!
One side serving has 250 calories, 25g fat, 0g fiber, and a POINTS value of 7.
