The Power of Mickey D's

Last week I wrote about these fabulous grilled chicken nuggets that I recently discovered. Whereas most of the kids I’ve offered them to gobbled them up in minutes, a few days ago I was faced with a challenge: the queen bee of picky eaters.

I tried every thing I could to get her to take a bite. Nothing worked. And I mean nothing. Then I decided to make up a little lie. I told her that McDonald’s makes them to sell in grocery stores.

So why are they missing the outside, she wanted to know?

They had to leave off the breading so that they did not look like McNuggets or the restaurants would get angry that the supermarkets were stealing their business, I replied.

She thought for a second and then dug right in. Oh my, the power of the Golden Arches.

Can tricking kids to eat healthier foods actually be this easy? Have you ever pulled something like this with your kids? Please share your stories!

When my daughter was young,I made a grilled salad. In the salad you grilled all the vegies except the lettuce bed,and grill a Tuna steak. She is such a picky eater I had to tell her it was chicken. She said it was the best chicken.(she still doesn't know)

What ever works. I am loving the 100 calorie everything this is going on right now. English muffins, cookies, snacks, & even the low calorie catsup. I pass them all on as the original!

It's kind of sad that we live in a world where we have to trick kids using the term "McDonald's". Wouldn't it be great if our society only produced healthy food that would energize us to be the best humans possible?

I remember my mom switched me out to skim milk by gradually mixing it in with 2% in a 2% carton. Eventually, I was drinking all skim milk and didn't know it (good thing I never tried to look at the expiration date). When one day she poured me milk out of a skim container & I said it wasn't too bad, she let me know I'd been drinking it for a couple months already.
