Little Frustrations and the 30 DAY SHRED

Written by rebelrose122388 (ashley) on 4/1/2010 4:57 PM | COMMENTS (8)

I have to admit, over the three times I've been on WW, I have discovered some little annoyances that have finally gotten to me. I think I need to delineate them here to feel better about it ...

1) I have one of the old WW restaurant guides from 2008 ... most of the time it works out for me, but today is one of the few occasions that was one too many. We went to KFC today after taking my future FIL to the optometrist, and I was expecting to enjoy a BLT salad with fat free ranch dressing for 5 POINTS ... well, I didn't get my way because apparently, that item isn't offered at every KFC. Urghh... so frustrating! Why include that in the book if some people can't have it??? Makes me mad ...

2) Some of the restaurants that I like to eat at (and that I know are national chains) aren't even in the book at all!! This, quite possibly, frustrates me even more than #1 does ... the book is missing my favorite restaurants but includes restaurants that are available no where near where I live. Again, need I say that it's frustrating?? I'm just going to start eating at home ...

3) I also hate that when I go to track my used POINTS, and the POINTS value of the food that I had already calculated is wrong on the site, so I have to type it in manually. I hate when people don't do stuff correctly the first time ... Just take the time to DO IT RIGHT!!

4) It also frustrates the heck out of me when I think I'm exercising at a really intense rate or for a big chunk of time, and then I find out when I calculate the activity POINTS that all I got was 1 or 2. ... *Grumble, grumble*

So, as much as I love WW and think it's the best way to go about losing weight, even this weight loss plan irritates me sometimes ... But before I end this post, I'm going to rant about one more thing.

I started Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred today, and boy, did it kick my a**!!! ... I thought, 'Oh, Level 1 is going to be no big deal. I've been working out at the gym all the time! I can do this.' Haha. Yeah right. I started the DVD, got all the way through the first circuit and 2/3 of the way through the second one and then collapsed. Yes, I literally collapsed.
First, I felt like a failure, since Jillian says constantly throughout the workout, "No breaks, no breaks." Well, I had to take a break. I was so winded that I was about to see my lunch again. Second, I had WAAAYYY overestimated my own fitness, because the most basic level had exhausted me. I don't remember the other girls who had done the workout collapsing like I did, so I felt like even more of a loser, wondering if maybe I'm starting this intense of a workout too soon. I asked my fiance if I should start in May, and he said, "No. You should do it now." Oh well. I tried.

Anyway, I took about 15 minutes and then went back to it, starting where I left off. So, I did finish the workout, but I was mad because by the end of the video, I realize that I probably could have just continued in the first place, because the workout tapers off in difficulty after the first circuit. Ugh ... I'm absolutely pathetic.

Oh I love love love this post! I felt exactly the same way about the restaurants (I cook a lot more now) and Jillian's 30 day shred! It killed me the first few times I could barely get through but I promise that first time you go with no stops you will feel an amazing sense of accomplishment and pride! Hold on to that feeling you need it to motivate you to do level 2!

it 30 days in a row! The difficulty level is so intense even at level makes me feel like a loser doing it lol. But you get somewhere between 3-4 pts for like 20 min of hardcore exercise so that's the only up side to it. If I did it often enough to the point where I memorized the routine and anticipated each little move Jillian was going to do, I think it wouldn't be as bad. The jumping jacks and "jump rope" is what kills me! My lungs feel like they're ready to pop!

Ugh I tottaly hear you on your frustrations. I bought the dining out companion back in 2007 when I did WW the first time, it kinda sucks and I lost it and never even look at it! Basically I always have to use the WW website to check pt. values before I go out. And sometimes even then, the pt. values don't reflect what manual calculations told me the pt. value would be!! And I also have the 30 Day Shred, I felt like I was dying every single time I did it. I do it periodically but I have yet to do

well as far as no. 1 goes, it isn't really WW fault whether restaurants remove things from their menus. I had those frustrations too, having to enter things manually, but I think that if you really want to succeed on this plan, and maintain the lower weight of course, you'll need to get VERY accustomed to doing things on your own re: tracking, etc. That's part of the magic of WW: it requires so much self-initiative, drive, patience and self-reliance. You are worth all that effort!

Aww don't feel bad about the shred! It's hard! I think you should keep with it, because it really does get easier each time you do it. However, if you start to feel pain in your knees or back, you should stop because it can lead to injury...her videos are insanely hard on the joints (especially level 2)! As much as WW pisses us all off, in the end we all know it works! You're doing great; keep it up!

Don't feel like a failure! I didn't make it through the first circuit the day I started! It is a hard video!! And I agree about the AP's....I can get 1 AP for folding laundry for 20 minutes and not breaking a sweat or I can walk/jog on the treadmill for 20 minutes and get 2 AP's! Doesn't make sense to me either! Keep up the good work! It will pay off!

I find the activity points a little frustrating too. If you get a heart rate moniter, that's another way to measure calories burned that can be more accurate than WW's estimates.
