Sushi's Back!

Post Image Everyone that knows me knows that I love sushi! I’m so happy that I can eat it again. I gave it up a couple years ago because the diet I was on told me to stay away from white carbs. I was only allowed to eat brown rice or wheat bread and in very small amounts, so I had to leave the sushi alone. I missed it and tried to find brown rice sushi when I could, but that never happened.

In my first meeting, my leader was talking about some of her favorite stuff to eat and mentioned sushi. I stopped her right there and was like "you eat sushi on this plan?" She told me that it was actually a great choice and you could really work it in. I didn't believe that at first, but as we got into it I decided to give it a try. I went to a great sushi restaurant and had some sushi for the first time in years. I even lost weight that week. Amen! Sushi is back in my life. Just don't eat it the night before weigh in!

love the brown rice sushi. Get the spicy one that way I have to drink water with it. Helps get the water requirements in and the spicy helps boost metabolism. Win Win situation.

I love sushi, and when it's available, I order it with brown rice. I just don't care for white rice- so the only time I get it is if brown rice sushi isn't available. I'm more into the raw fish than anything else. I actually have a list of different kids of sushi and the WW points (Momentum) per piece. That way, I can count the number of pieces I had and then multiply. My ideal meal is a sushi/sashimi combo. It's more expensive, but I rarely get sushi so I like variety.

If you can handle it (some people can't for texture reasons or they think to much about it) eat sashimi. The raw pieces are straight protein and absolutely delicious, and good for you!!

Isn't it great on WW we don't have to give up on certain foods! It's all about making a healthier choice and if that food is worth that number of points

Why is there a point difference between a tuna roll and a spicy tuna roll? Also, how does soy sauce and wasabi figure in? I LOVE sushi.

I am a newbie to the whole sushi experience, so I'm just getting into it. But I love maki, or veggie rolls! Only 2 points per 6 small pieces and I always use low sodium soy sauce. It's awesome and totally fills me up! I will try to remember to go light on the carbs the day before weigh in and see if I see a difference!

It is interesting when you said "Just don't eat it the night before weign in!" I have also noticed that eating carbs before weigh in can be a little tricky. I tried to eat dinner after my 7pm weigh in and meeting. It works out better for me.

I just started loving sushi. I can get brown rice sushi at Publix and Kroger grocery stores in GA.

I love sushi too - I just go sashimi style . . . no rice! I love toro, butterfish, salmon, and I always get the low sodium soy sauce

Sushi is a very healthy food. I'm glad weight watchers doesn't restrain me from eating anything.

I don't know if you have access to a Public grocery store, but they have daily fresh sushi with white or brown rice. It's one of my go to work lunches when I'm on the go! Yum!

I get mine wrapped in cucumber ribbons instead of rice to lower the points... YUM!

probably the sodium in the soy sauce can add water weight...
