Look. I'm only human.
When I joined WW, I stopped eating fast food. Subway is the fastest I get when it comes to food. I eat all my fruits and veggies. I track my points EVERY day. The day I joined WW, I quit smoking and haven't smoked since. I've also quit drinking because frankly, it's just not worth the points.
I'm a total WW goody-goody. Heck, I even round up in my points if there's a doubt, for crying out loud. And I measure, count, or weigh EVERYTHING. Plus, I'm an obsessive journaler.
But my one vice...the one thing that I love and that I'm not willing to give up (NO WAY NO HOW) is CANDY!!! I mean, I will eat it in moderation now (which I didn't do before) but I will eat it...oh yes...I will eat candy. Now, I savor every bite...which, honestly, was hard to do before when I was sucking it down like I was in a county fair candy eating contest.
So, being a WW goody-goody and a perpetual kid when it comes to being a candyholic, I thought I would just list some of my faves for those of you out there who are just as candy obsessed as me. It goes in waves...I'll start with my current obsessions:
Bit-O-Honey: This is a recent thing. My husband was talking about it and I hadn't had it since I was little so I bought a bag of the bite sized pieces (I never understand bite size...ALL my food is bite size once I take a bite...but I digress...). If you buy the bag of them, you get 6 Bit-O-Honeys for 3 points. If you buy the bar of Bit-O-Honey...you get the entire bar for 4 points.
Pretzel M&Ms: That's right. You read that correctly. PRETZEL M&Ms. It's like the Mars Snackfood Company was lingering around the girly product aisle at the grocery store and found out that there are times in a girls life (or month) where she MUST have salty and sweet and will pretty much do anything to get them. Enter Pretzel M&Ms! At 3 points for a (1.14 oz) bag of them (and I'm not talking about the huge bags...in those a serving is 17 M&Ms and if memory serves, I think 4 points) it is totally worth it!! Totally hits the spot!
Mentos: First of all, best commercials ever. That ad company is either brilliant or terrible. My vote is more towards brilliant...but I'm a bit of a weirdo (no!) and you shouldn't go by my opinion on that one. Brilliant commerical aside, Mentos are delicious. I like the mint flavor, but I'm partial to the fruity flavors. And the apple flavor is da BOMB. A roll of Mentos is 2.5 points. You get 14 mentos in a roll. 6 mentos are 1 point. Yum!
Tootsie Pops & Toostie Pop Drops: Tootsie Pops are a great go-to candy. You can always rely on them to get you through a candy craving and at 1 point a piece, that's a lot of bang for your point. If you are lucky enough to find Tootsie Pop Drops (Walgreens always comes through for me) grab a box or bag! I mean, sometimes you're at work and it may not be the most professional thing to walk around with a lollypop in your mouth. But you can totally sneak a Tootsie Pop Drop. You get 4 drops for a serving and a serving is 1 point. Totally worth it.
Coconut M&Ms: Now, these aren't for everyone. My oldest kid and husband hate them. My youngest and I love them. That's the great thing about M&Ms and their varieties...different strokes for different folks. However, you also get different point values with that as well. A regular sized bag of coconut M&Ms (net wt. 1.50 oz) is 5 points. I never eat a whole bag at once. I split the bag in half and eat 2.5 points worth and save the other 2.5 points for next time. Once, next
time was that evening. Usually, next time means the next day.
At any time, I have some candy in my purse. But it's good candy! It's candy that I have figured points on and I now eat responsibly. Some candies I used to eat (in my heyday) I do not eat anymore because I don't feel that they are worth the points. I only get 20 points a day and I need to meet my healthy guidelines....so if I'm going to spend precious weekly points on candy, then it better be worth it!!
Dude, where's my purse? ;-)
