Ooey Gooey Cinnamon Rolls...............

Today I got up extra early, pulled out my Kitchenaid mixer and my yummy cinnamon roll recipe that is worn on the edges and is fading and made 15 of the yummiest ever cinnamon rolls.  The smell coming out of the oven was enough to want to sit down and breathe deeply.  I don't know why cinnamon when it cooks smells so good, but my house had that amazing smell a few minutes after they went in the oven. Before I started on weight watchers I would bless my neighbors and family with a batch of ooey gooey cinnamon rolls at least twice a month.  I have not made these cinnamon rolls for the past 6 months!  I didn't want to derail myself and needed to wait until I felt I had reached the point of controlling myself when tempted.  Well, today was the day.  My manager at work yesterday had "one of those" days.  She was really tired and it seemed like nothing was going right for her.  I decided when I got home yesterday to get up a little bit early and make a batch of cinnamon rolls and take a few to her and the girls I work with. I didn't eat one right out of the oven this morning, I wanted to make sure that I put the recipe into the recipe builder first, to see  how much damage I would do to my daily points.  When I got home from work I put the recipe into the builder and yes, each ooey gooey cinnamon roll (even with whole wheat white flour) is a whopping 10 points!  So, I walked into the kitchen cut one into thirds and ate my 3 point cinnamon roll.  Funny thing...it was almost too sweet for me...I am happy with my "taste" of my cinnamon roll and by the time my kids get home and have a snack...they will be gone anyway.  The changes that I have made and the way my body now reacts to food still amazes me.....because I am not consuming high sugar foods every day, my body has adjusted and now when I eat a piece of cake or in this instance a cinnamon roll...I can stop at just a few bites and not eat 2 or 3 like I used to.

Your experience ties in with what was discussed at my WW meeting today: noting how much we've changed, how much we do differently since becoming Weight Watchers! It's so wise of you to have waited until you knew you could manage those cinnamon rolls and the temptation they represent. Isn't it great to discover how our taste buds have changed?!! Good for you! I really like the story of your "new normal!"

OMG! I'm driving through your neck of the woods tomorrow - save one for me! Ha! Wish you could, but then I'd use up 40% of my DP's... but on delicious cinnamony goodness.... totally worth it! I'll be thinking of you! (I almost typed "SINamon", which is probably appropriate for such decadent treats!)

Getting to know yourself is a wonderful place on this journey...waiting and knowing that today was the day to make the rolls and that "you could handle it"...love the story behind the story here.

Great work, Laurie! Don't know if I could be so good as to eat 1/3 of a roll--maybe 1/2!! Lol!! Glad to hear you are doing so well and stayed OP. :) Pat

OH MY GOSH!!! YUM!!! My hero though, only eating 1 third! That is amazing major kudos to you!! 10 points didn't seem to bad! Every month I'll treat myself to a 10pt Twisted Frosty from Wendys. I think a cinnamon roll would be worth it too!

BRAVO!!! That's the way to do it... make some for others, for the family and a token piece for yourself. I always think it's important to know how well things turn out before giving it to others :) It does look yummy!
