As I sit here in the Philadelphia airport, waiting for our flight back to Cleveland, I am filled with so many thoughts and emotions about our family trip to Israel. We did a lot of running around, shopping and visiting with family and friends and doing touristy things. I have a few favorite memories -- climbing Masada and being in the front of the group and not feeling out of breath as I once did, an entertaining and memorable jeep ride through the Golan Heights and learning more about the history of the Yom Kippur War. I got to meet Bon, a "friend" from the Kosher Corner board who was also in Israel for the holidays. We spent an hour, getting to know one another and drinking coffee. I celebrated my 42nd birthday more than once -- my kids brought me balloons one night during a dinner out, I was surprised with a candle-lit dessert at another dinner out and I was the guest of honor at a dinner on my actual birthday with my husband, five kids, my in-laws (who were also visiting Israel over the holidays), our cousins from Rehovot and our cousins/hosts from Efrat. I had a week where I was off program but I got back on the wagon as a new week began and I am looking forward to continuing with this journey with regular, daily exercise and good eating choices.
