Day 23: A Tale Of One Small Hot Fudge Sundae

I should have known better. After a wonderful trip to Mount Rainier our family stopped at McDonalds on the long trip home. I wasn't hungry but it was midafternoon and we still had a ways to go, so I thought I'd just get a little something for a snack. It was one of those McDonalds that was sharing apace with a food mart/gas station so I looked first in the freezer section for a skinny cow. To my downfall there was no skinny cows to be had. So I thought OK. A hot fudge sundae. That is small so it can't be too bad. WRONG!

I suspected I went astray when I couldn't find the food listed in the ww tracker online. So I had to go to the www and get the NI for my "treat". I get all the NI and then plug it in the tracker to calculate the points and I find out the bad news. My little McD's Hot Fudge Sundae is worth a whopping 7 pts. Ouch! I could have eaten a box of skinny cow fudge bars for one of those sundaes. My mistake of having an afternoon snack at McD's could have been worse though because a mcflurry with M&Ms is worth 14 points! I now wish I hadn't wasted 7 pts on junk food. I know better than that but ate it anyway. But I never dreamed one tiny little dessert would be worth so many points. Lesson learned. It didn't even taste that good. From now on I'll stick to skinny cows.

Sounds like it's all a part of learning to eat better! I think we're all guilty of eating something before we think about what the consequences could be, though, so at least you know now and you can remember not to do it again!

Thanks for sharing. I made that mistake once eating ribs at a barbeque without checking the points first. Ouch! They rank up there with the hot fudge sundae.

Good for you for looking it up and adjusting the rest of your day to stay on course! It's a great learning experience. My usual snack choice when I have to get it at McDonald's (which isn't often, thankfully) is the apple slices with caramel sauce or the fruit salad. I haven't gotten either enough to remember the points off the top of my head, but I feel better when I can talk myself into something off the filling foods list in a situation like that. You did well! And you learned...

Well, at least you looked it up later, and now you can learn from that mistake. :)

Whew! All is not lost. I just finished supper and have 2 pts left. Still, it takes a lot of zumba to work off a hot fudge sundae. So not worth it!

Don't sweat it, you learned a great lesson today. A semi tasty, snack fulfilling 7 point lesson, but still worth the expierence. :) Let's focus on Mtn. Rainier, did you hike at all, any AP?

I will join you with a skinny cow ice cream sandwich. I did the same thing at Sonic recently when thirsty and stopped in for med strawberry limeade--4 pts. And just learned the other day that my all time favorite no-no, Dairy Queen Hot Fudge Milk Shake is like 2100 calories. If someone had told me that before well you know. Anyway it is just live and learn. Hey maybe you should make that your campaign promise to make any ice cream treat only 1 or 2 points. You would definetly win!

Awww... thats okay, you can always brush it off and start again. I'm guilty of making the same mistakes but the good thing is we learn from them. Have a great weekend!
