How I like plan so far & Amazing 1 point breakfast!

Yesterday I sorta started the day very non op even before I finally got the new program to load...but so far today, I really do think I like it. I planned my food out for the remainder of the day and still have 1 extra point. I used to be at 24, so now I get the extra 5...and although some foods have gone up, the healthy ones for the most part really have not.


Skim milk is still 2 points, chobaini greek non fat yogurt is 3 .


I bought some soup today at the store, low cal ones, and they have gone up just a point on the new plan..as well as several smart ones and lean cuisine meals and they also on average went up by just a single point--and now I have 5 extra points per day plus no longer need to count my fruit or veggies...so I do think I like this, I think that the new plan does reward us for making healthy choices because if we chose ones that arent healthy, the point values, yes have gone up most times...but the healthy things, fruit, skim milk, veggies...they are low in values so if we choose those first as the bulk of our day, we will have more points than before for treats, if we so choose.


Amazing 1 point breakfast=carnation instant chocolate sugar free breakfast


** With 1 cup non fat milk, this used to be 2 points, but now when you type in the carbs/protien/fat/fiber when prepared with the one cup of milk---it equals just ONE point! Every Tues I volunteer at at hospital from 730-1230, I drink one at 630 am and it truly always carries me over without being hungry during that time ( I am ready to eat at 1230 when I get out-but I am not STARVING...so it manages my hunger that whole time!) Just a suggestion-its packed with vitamins and minerals as well.


My day on 24 points:


Breakfast: Carnation sugar free instant= 1 point
Total 1:
Lunch: 1 cup rice= 5, 1 tbs light margarine=1 , cabbage=0
Total: 6


Afternoon snacks= Orange= 0, Bananna= 0
Total: 0


Dinner= Pasta 1.5 cups= 7.5, 1 tbs margarine=1, 1/2 cup lean meat sauce and grated cheese sprinkle= 5, one cup skim milk=2, spinich=0
Total: 15


Snack= one whole cup (not the half cup) of jello sugar free pudding made with one cup skim milk= 4 points
Total: 4


wait...huh...I Still have 2 points left to use! Wow this program just may in fact be amazing if I am struggling with using points!! I need to go recheck my tracker and my food plan to see if I missed something because WOW

    Great post. Thanks for a great example of a menu. You get to eat like a normal person, with regular amounts of rice and pasta, milke and cheese and still be OP. Nice example!

    I think lots of people are finding it very freeing to be able to eat more fruits and veggies without adding them into the daily points values and feeling more satisfied with healthier and healthier choices!

    I am on day 2 of the points plus. Having the fruit be 0 is great for me. I think (after 2 days) that I am inclined to go for fruit knowing it is free versus chocolate. I still want chocolate, and cookies, but I find that knowing there is no limit to fruit, some how makes it okay. We'll so how tomorrow goes.

    I'm having difficulty eating all my daily points with the new program. I was very sad about my oatmeal, it doubled in points, so I'm thinking even healthy foods, if they are carbs, are in trouble. I do like getting more activity points though! Tammy

    I just skimmed your blog entry. I can't read another paragraph of this information before heading out to a meeting. I am planning to go tonight so that I can get my head wrapped around it a bit more. The learning curve will be the tricky part. I just want to stay on target with my weekly average weight loss because I am closing in on my healthy weight range and my goal weight. Chin up, breathe, step forward, repeat. (that's what I am saying mostly to myself)

    My head is spinning. One cup milk = 2 points. One cup milk PLUS something else = 1 point? That seems crazy. Similar confusion happened to me today with a smoothie: 1 cup skim milk plus half a banana and some strawberries entered separately = 2 points. But the stand I get the smoothie from also adds in a few ounces of very low calorie frozen yogurt and they post the total calorie information. When I input that my 2 point smoothie jumped to 6 points! Still need to figure it out...

    Interesting. HOWEVER, be careful with the veggies.... I just re-entered information for my Healthy 8 chop veggies from Trader Joe's and all that's in it is vegetables and it is now 1 point. 2 Tbsp of Balsamic White Vinegar? 1 pt and 2 cups of mixed greens? 1 point now. Part of me is saying **** and the other part is saying -- go with the flow and see what happens. I did love that my banana this am was 0 pts! Yippee!
