Ok - it's the weekend, so I'm not eating my usual lunch. I had a McDonalds Asian Chicken Salad yesterday, so I tried a Wendy's Berry Almond Chicken Salad today.
Needless to say, the opportunity to compare came to mind.
McDonalds Asian Chicken Salad - A nice interesting mix of greens, with grilled chicken strips, mandarin orange slices, & Sliced almonds. VERY tasty Newman's Own low fat sesame ginger dressing. Lots of zip and zing. 7 points on the salad, 2 points for the dressing (over 2 oz - sorry threw out the packet yesterday). Definitely a sit-down restaurant salad, I was very pleasantly surprised. Price at my local McDonalds -$5.00 before tax.
Wendy's Berry Almond Chicken Salad - Advertises 11 different types of greens, mine was mostly iceberg, with very little romaine or anything else. Almonds come in packets (1 oz total) - I just skipped them. Slices of strawberries and some nice blueberries, plus small slivers of asiago cheese. It comes with two packets of Marzetti Fat Free raspberry vinagrette - of which, I decided to only use one - it looked kind of syrupy. 7 points for the salad (minus the almonds) and 1 point for the one packet of dressing. Overall, I was a little disappointed, especially with the lettuce mix. Price at my local Wendy's - $6.49 before tax.
Verdict - The McDonalds Asian Chicken Salad is much more flavorful, with better salad greens and a wonderful dressing (plus the dressing is available at your local grocery). And it's a $1.50 cheaper, at least where I live.
