Michelob Ultra - Calculate the points vs. online calculated points

Written by wwlnolan on 7/10/2011 3:43 PM | COMMENTS (1)

I was so happy to calculate 95 calories, 5.5 carbs as 1 point per beer that I willingly calculated 2 for 3 points. Later I did an online search and was shocked to find that I was supposed to calculate 4 points per beer!! I had under calcuated by 5 points!. But wait a minute, some items are off by 1 point from the calculator, but 3 points per serving?? Really?? I don't understand.

I took my search online to look up info for wine. Wine has about 25 calories per ounce, and about .71 grams of carbohydrates per ounce. It has no fat or fiber and very little protien. Wine, if calculated, would come out very low, but is given a points plus value of 7 per 8 ounces. Why? Empty calories! It has very little nutritional value.

I am very sad that I can not continue to enjoy and calculate Michelob Ultra so librally, unless I choose to calculate all those point, or rob myself from weight loss, but life goes on.....and we all do what we have to do in order to lose weight!

You know, I made the same observation when I started. I realize WW takes some liberties, like counting all fruits and veggies as 0, but it all adds up. I don't go too hard on myself with a glass of wine or a beer now and then. I think WW takes the opportunity to jack up the points to discourage, like you said, empty calories. While this makes sense and I keep it in mind, I also don't deprive myself if I have only 2 pts left at the end of the day and I want that "4 pt" beer.
