Ahhhhh Nuts! New Poll

Written by weeziebug88 on 1/21/2012 12:05 PM | COMMENTS (20)

Here's what I'd like to know...

I know nuts are healthy, but I struggle with pp associated with nuts. Do you eat nuts? How many, and how often?

Thanks for sharing!

Too many points for cashews which are my favorite - but occasionally - maybe every few months - I will grab a few almonds.

I love most nuts-but because I can't seem to stop at one serving of nuts-I don't eat them often...

I eat slivered almonds and used almond milk (unsweeened) instead of regular milk for practically everything. I try to stay away from other nuts as they are a trigger food (grazing food) for me. With high fat...no matter how good...it's a bit dangerous for me.

I have almonds on my desk at work and occasionally eat 6 as an afternoon snack, or with yogurt for some crunch. Macadamias are my favorite, but they are really high in points and not as healthy, so they are a rare treat.

23 dry roasted almonds (no or low salt if I can get them) for 5 pts. I do eat the others as well but not as frequently.

I eat peanut butter almost every day. I love almost any kind of nut and will occasionally have some. But usually I don't spare the points for them.

I eat almonds a couple of times a week. Usually buy the little packs 3 points a pack, chop them up sometimes and put them into yogurt. I love peanuts and when I travel I will buy the smallest little bag I can find and eat them.

I eat nuts every single day. I put 1tbs (1pt) in my yogurt and then sometimes I eat 1 oz of almonds (5pts). Peanuts and Cashews are REALLY high in pts... I stay away from those.

Peanut butter is something that I eat often and usually combined with an apple. However, I do struggle with portion size. I do eat a lot of almonds and pecans when I am hungry and need a snack. It is hard for me since I have to eat like a diabetic and nuts are what I can have. I do try and get walking in or some kind of AP's in so it does counteract the points.

I eat almonds a few times a week. I put 20 in a little baggie for a snack at work (it's 4 points).

Sometimes I eat the almonds in my son's trail mix. He doesn't like them, so after he eats a bowl, there are usually about six left. I eat them and track them. but I don't seek them out.

BTW - nuts can be a migraine trigger in some people (including me). The call of pecans is so strong to me that even that threat doesn't stop me sometimes. Will power, what a fickle mistress you can be.

Hubby LOVE peanut butter (let's call it what it is - addiction!) I LOVE pecans. Trouble is, when I start, I can't stop. If we have them in the house, I can hear their little tiny nut voices calling me even from upstairs! They're really good for us, just not when I can't stop eating them!

Danger food for me because I cannot control my portion size so I pretty much avoid them.

Just the occasional peanut butter serving for me, (even then only rarely because it's high in p+). I think if you could eat a serving of almonds or like, 2 rice krispie treats, the nuts would be a better snack for the value. It just seems like such a small amount for the serving, when I think about how I used to eat cashews and peanut M&M's by the handful.

    I love almonds. I could 5 as 1, 22 are 5 points. If I have 11, I write down 2.5 points.

I too have heard often of health benefits, but I rarely have any (on plan) since the portion would be unsatisfyingly small.

I eat nuts all the time. I eat 1/2 an ounce of smoked almonds (which I weigh on a scale) about 3 times a week and peanut butter I eat about 3 times a week too. I wish they were lower in points, but they are worth it!
