Creating even more accountability

Sunday, April 28, 2013

I decided to create a page on Facebook. I'm hoping it will give me even more accountability than what I have now. I'm excited to share my journey with others and hope to inspire along the way. If interested it's called

Thanks for your Blog! This is my first time reading it-very encouraging! The losing streak is truly motivating! :) Looking at your losses makes me think back to my own journey; I lost for the first 34 out of 38 weeks that I did WW! I have been maintaining since my Dad passed away unexpected this December. Your Blog has encouraged me that I will get into a loosing streak again and get to Goal. Hope to see you post again soon!

So many changes

Wednesday, April 24, 2013

It's such a great feeling to see so many changes taking place for the better. I'm now down almost 70 lbs (hoping to reach that milestone at my meeting this week), I've gone from size 20 pants to 14s, feel and look better, eating healthier, I love all the energy I have. I'm able to keep up with my kids now and enjoy going to the park, chasing them around the house, going for walks and eventually jogs with them. I also have been checking my BMI and it dropped by 10 points. What an awesome feeling!!! I love my lifestyle with WW and theres no amount of money anyone could give me to go back to my old lifestyle.

Mahi Mahi

Tuesday, February 26, 2013

Today my DH made mahi mahi fish tacos with some salsa to put on top. I was really excited to try it, as it smelt really good.

I've never been a sea food lover, but was hoping it would change. My DH loves sea food and makes it all the time.

However, today I made myself two tacos with 2 oz of fish on each one. I also added the cilantro, tomato, onion, lettuce and lime juice. It looked awesome and smelt so good. I bit into it and ate the first bite just fine. Then I took another bite and gagged and felt like I was going to throw up. So needless to say, I couldn't finish and had to have my DH finish it. I ended up with a bean and rice burrito topped with sour cream, lettuce and taco sauce. It was good and I was able to finish.

Oh well, I hope eventually I can enjoy and finish the fish my DH makes.

The jeans FIT!!!

Tuesday, February 26, 2013

Last weekend, I bought a pair of size 14 tall blue jeans. I didn't have any plans of them fitting in the near future, but liked them and thought it would be good motivation for me.

This morning, I decided to try them on just to see where they went on me. That way each week or so I could try again until they fit.

Well to my surprise.....they slid right on and they FIT comfortably!!!! I'm so excited and can't believe they FIT!!!! They looked so SMALL when I held them up and can't believe I'm able to wear them!! Woohoo!!!!

When I started my journey I wore a 20/22 and never thought I'd be in a 14. Now I know I can do anything if I just focus, believe and have faith in myself.

I better go get a size 12 and do what I was going to do with my 14's:-). I just love WW and my new lifestyle:-)

Review from my successful weekend

Tuesday, February 26, 2013

On Sunday, I wrote a blog about how nothing was keeping me satisfied. All I wanted to do was eat until I was bloated. However, I kept strong and focused on the ghg and filling foods.

In the past I would have said, " **** it" and went off
course to where I felt awful. Those type of feelings I keep in the back of my mind and it's a feeling I don't want to experience anytime soon, if ever.

I'm proud of my choices and it helps that I keep my house stocked with a lot of healthy filling foods and not a lot of processed foods. I did use all my DP focusing on my ghg and I used 5 of my WP on some nutella. It was very good and just what I needed. I was able to have just 2 tbsp and call it quits. In the past I would have had almost the whole jar. Wow, I can't believe how far I've come.

Overall, I went to bed feeling good and satisfied. Which is such a nice feeling. I will keep this feeling in the back of my mind for the next time I feel like that. I overcame those feelings before and I can again.

I have to stop and consciously tell myself to remember this feeling of satisfaction and empowerment... so that I can recall it when I'm feeling down. You are on such a great stride! Keep it up!

My weekend WILL NOT turn into a "weak-end"

Sunday, February 24, 2013

I've had an awesome week this last week and don't have any plans to derail and allow myself to have a "weak-end.".

Today I'm extremely hungry and for the life of me can't shake this feeling. I'm due soon for my period and I have a feeling that's why I'm feeling this way. I'm learning how to deal with these kinds of feelings and how to avoid temptations, cravings, and just not feeling satisfied. I've come along way and I'm very proud of myself:-)

This morning I had a very filling breakfast, which included an egg, egg beaters, and fresh mushrooms cooked with 2 tsp of olive oil. I put it on a sandwich thin with a slice of pepper jack cheese and two slices of Canadian bacon. I also had a glass of water and banana. The breakfast was very good and filling.

For my snacks, I've measured out and had some tortilla chips with black bean salsa. It was very yummy, but just couldn't satisfy me like it usually does. So I've also had a jolly time mini bag of popcorn and 2 ww chocolate turtle candies.

For lunch I had a spinach and lettuce salad with sweet mini peppers, cranberries and grilled chicken. Which was good and filling, but couldn't satisfy me either.

On the surface, I feel like raiding the house and pigging out, however that WILL NOT happen!!! I'm stronger then any kind of craving and urge to pig out. Yuck, just the thought and knowing how I'd feel makes me sick.

I've been doing an awesome job and feel better then ever! I've lost each week sense Christmas and don't plan on changing that. So I'm going to continue to stay strong, measure, weigh and record everything today and not let these urges to get the best of me like they would've before. I GOT this and WILL wake up tomorrow feeling proud of myself!!!

I'm having an awesome end to my week and won't let it turn into a bad & disappointing "weak-end."

Creating S.M.A.R.T goals

Sunday, February 24, 2013

You might be excited about tackling new goals, but not so fast! The best way to set yourself up for success is to make sure that your goals are SMART: Specific, Measurable, Attainable,Relevant, and Timely.

Make Your Goals SPECIFIC
Ambiguous or undefined goals aren't going to provide you with the direction you need to succeed. You want to give yourself a concrete goal so you know exactly what you're working toward. You know your goal is specific if it answers these questions:
  • WHO: Who will be involved in helping you reach your goal (including yourself)?
  • WHAT: What exact goal do you want to accomplish? Be very specific. Rather than "lose weight" or "get fit," define those terms: "I will lose 25 pounds," or "I will be able to run a 5K."
  • WHEN: When will you start and when will you reach your goal?
  • HOW: How will you make this happen? These are the action steps to get you toward your goal. If you want to lose 25 pounds in 6 months, your "how's" might look something like: I will eat between 1,500 and 1,800 calories each day; I will exercise for 30 minutes 5 days per week; I will track my food and calories burned each day; and I will pack my lunch at least 3 days of the week.
Make Your Goals MEASURABLE
Now that you have some of the specifics of your goal nailed down, it's time to look at how you will gauge your progress. After all, if you don't have any way to measure your goal, how will you know when you've reached it? Your goal is measurable if you can find a way to quantify your success using real numbers. Some examples of measurable goals might be pounds lost, a positive change in blood work numbers, or fitness minutes accumulated.

Make Your Goals ATTAINABLE
It's good to think big, but it's also important that you don't set a goal that is too big. A goal that's attainable for you is one that you believe you can reach and have the means necessary in order to achieve. So if you plan to work out with a personal trainer but don't have the discretionary dollars in your budget, that goal wouldn’t be attainable for you.

To determine whether your goal is attainable, ask yourself honestly if you believe you can achieve it and have all the resources (including time) available to make it happen. Do you have (or will you be able to obtain) all the support, equipment, knowledge and resources needed to put your goals into action? Does this goal fall in line with your other priorities in life? If not, how can you revise your goal to make it more realistic?

Make Your Goals RELEVANT
You need to make sure that you're choosing a goal that fits you and your lifestyle. Don't choose a goal out of guilt, or just because someone else thinks it's something you "should" do. Pick something that is meaningful and relevant to you and you'll set yourself up for success.

To determine if your goal is relevant, ask yourself why you want to achieve it. So you can feel more confident? Be a good example to your kids? Or live a longer, healthier life? These whys are important because they will serve as your motivation throughout the process.

Make Your Goals TIMELY
If you don't put a deadline on your goal, it will be difficult to know how to pace yourself to reach it. Every goal should have a date, which will help you stay on track. In addition, set up a few benchmarks, or "mini-deadlines" to keep you on track to reaching your big-picture goal and keep yourself accountable.
